5 Books To Fill The Void Until ‘Shadowhunters’ Returns To TV

After Saturday’s New York Comic Con panel, we finally have a release date and trailer for Shadowhunters Season 2. So, if you’re still hungry for more after Season 1 (and all that Malec) and can’t wait until January, here’s 5 books to tide you over with YA feels until then!

1. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

With an addictive combination of magic and a classic enemies to lovers arc, this is the perfect read to fill the three month void until Shadowhunters returns. This heartwarming book will leave you melting with feelings and quite possibly in love with everyone in it.

2. Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine

Sometimes, all you want from a book is a group of young adults running about in a strange world trying to solve problems. And this book does just that. Without being a drag or something you’ve read before, Caine’s Ink and Bone manages to make you care for those young adults, and it’s actually quite laugh out loud funny in places too.

3. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child J.K. Rowling and Jack Thorne

Ok hear me out. Yes it was a bit of a let down and yes Scorpius/Albus never happened, but it is fun to read. The self-aware Voldemort nose jokes alone are enough to brighten your day. You’ve probably already read it, but why not relive all the reasons for hating it- if only to distract you from Shadowhunters. Also, if you’re unsure about whether you want to read it, check out our review, here!

4. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

This may be a wildcard but there’s logic behind it. A strong female character who doesn’t get killed off, who overcomes great hardship, and gets the guy of her dreams- basically Clary. Ok, it was a long shot, but still a classic not to miss!

5. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

It’s time to stop lying to ourselves. The best way to fill the void is to dive straight back in. Who knows, by the time you’ve reread the series, it might be January!
