Eddie Redmayne charmed Harry Potter fans everywhere when he played Newt Scamander in last November’s film adaptation of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. And while we’ll have to wait patiently for the next movie installment, in the meantime we can listen to Redmayne narrate the Fantastic Beasts audiobook from Audible.

Available now, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was Audible’s most pre-ordered audiobook ever, no doubt thanks to Redmayne’s soothing voice and sweet, Hufflepuff-y demeanor.
The book was published in 2001, but originally, Fantastic Beasts appears in the Harry Potter series as one of the textbooks Harry needs to buy for his studies at Hogwarts. The new film follows Newt Scamander, the author of the fictional textbook, as he travels to America and loses track of a few of the magical creatures he’s collected.

In a January statement, Redmayne discussed his experience narrating the audiobook:
“Before I was cast in the film, [director] David Yates told me about Newt and this textbook. I found it so funny and so enchanting and really wittily written. But it wasn’t until I started reading it out loud for the audiobook that I realized how tricky and poetic J.K. Rowling’s use of sounds and language can be. There are some really great tongue twister words in here! Occasionally, I had to stop recording just because I was incapable of saying the words without either laughing or getting my tongue in a muddle. I enjoyed the challenge and hope listeners can sense that in my narration.”
