We love them for their dramatic flair and Hollywood style, but, unbeknownst to most of us, quite a few celebrities have also made a name for themselves in the literary world. Did your favorite celebrity make the list? Check it out below:
1. Julie Andrews
Julie Andrews is a goddess among mortals, so of course her book is one of the most fabulous children’s books ever: The Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles is a delightfully whimsical celebration of the power of imagination and should be on every child’s (and adult’s, let’s be real here) to-read list.
2. Jamie Lee Curtis
This Scream Queens actress is a real-life rockstar: I’m Gonna Like Me is actually only one of her 12 bestselling children’s books. But this book, a lively and triumphantly inspirational text, is one of her best.
3. Chris Colfer
Chris Colfer (Glee star) is known as a great actor and passionate LGBTQ activist, but it turns out he’s even more than that: he’s also written an entire series about the power of books. An enchanting combination of the modern world and the world of classic fairy tales, The Land of Stories would be an excellent choice for young readers, middle schoolers, and even adults.
4. Jimmy Fallon
It seems like Jimmy Fallon (host of The Tonight Show) really can do everything: back in 2005, he published this high-action, high-comedy book about the wild and zany adventures that ensue when snow first begins to fall.
Calling all parents who have yet to find Christmas gifts for their budding bookworms: this winter-themed book might be the perfect choice.
5. Madonna
The world might recognize Madonna as one of the most famous singers of all time, but we in the literary community also recognize her as the vivaciously lovely author of Friends for Life, the first book in a series about young school girls in modern London.
