7 Tips For Building Your Own Reading Nook

Guess what’s blowing up on Pinterest and Instagram? People are posting pics of their cozy reading nooks. It may seem a little extravagant to have a whole space in your home dedicated to reading, however, for the truly devoted reader and librophile, creating a reading nook in your own home is a great investment.

You’re going to spend untold hours with your books anyway, so why not set up an ideal Instagram-worthy reading nook? Here are our 7 tips to help you get on your way to setting up a reading nook of your own!

1. Lighting Is Everything

You must have enough light to read in your nook and natural light is by far the best. For the evenings and dark rainy days, make sure you have a stylish and trustworthy lamp nearby. Filling a reading nook with candles is romantic, but let’s be honest, it’s not fun squinting in the dark!

2. Hang Curtains

To get some privacy or separation for you and your books, try installing some rods and hanging up beautiful curtains in your home. The fabric helps give the reading nook a cozy vibe and it kind of feels like you’re a kid again making a blanket fort!
