The famed talk show host and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey has branched out once more into the world of books- this time with a beautiful cook book. As a Weight Watchers spokeswoman and investor, it is unsurprising that the book features recipes focusing on healthy food choices, as well as listing ‘SmartPoints’ for each recipe to help those following the WeightWatcher’s program. This focus on health is explained by Winfrey in the book, following her success at recently losing an incredible 40 pounds, as a more relaxed approach to dieting:

“Now that I’ve finally internalized the rules of clean eating (food that’s minimally processed), I let myself break those rules! I don’t do it often, and I never do it mindlessly; the goal is to make my indulgences intentional. I aim for deliberate. I plan for decadence.”

Alongside the recipes are personal memories and notes that offer a colloquial insight into the life of the star, and her life long relationship with food. Through the cookbook, she comments on her individual experiences with these dishes and the memories they inspire, concluding the volume with a reflection on her newfound positive love for food.

She describes how the recipes are created and prepared alongside “the wonderful chefs I’ve been blessed to know and work with over the years.” The book is also split into several sections, including soups, healthy indulgences, and reduced calorie versions of popular foods.
