Nine Magical Narnia Tattoos Any Fan Will Adore

Generations of children have grown up reading C.S Lewis’ epic Chronicles of NarniaThe tale is breathtaking in scope and rich with symbolism and morals which have proven to be ageless to fans. Maybe you’re one of these fans, and maybe you’re even considering immortalizing your love in ink. Love of the story is reason enough in my book, but if that’s not enough for you then have a look at these nine reasons to get that tattoo:

1. Because You Are Brave

“Courage, dear heart.” One of the most recognizable Narnia quotes; Aslan spoke these words to Lucy while she was trapped on the Dark Island in ThVoyage Of The Dawn Treader. This could be very comforting to anyone currently trying to escape from whatever their own Dark Island may be.

2. Because Simple Can Be So Beautiful

Clean, minimalist, lovely. The classic lampost seen by Lucy Pevensie on her very first trip through the magic wardrobe is instantly recognizable to Narnia fans. This tat can be as small or as large as you like, and will look good almost anywhere. If you’re brave enough, the sleek line of the lampost would look stunning tracing your spine.

3. Because Better Times Lie Ahead

Oooh, shivers. I always found this line strangely exciting- a promise of adventures to come. The placement on the foot is clever but if feet gross you out, a short quote like this could really be placed anywhere.

4. Because You Roar Like A Lion

This striking arm piece is a bolder step away from the delicate, easy to hide quotes. The detail on this is clean and beautiful to look at! It’s not an obvious Narnian homage, which can appeal to some fans who like a hidden layer of meaning. As far as I know, it wasn’t originally intended to be an Aslan tattoo at all, but my book-loving eyes can see nothing else in this crowned lion.

5. Because It’s A Classic

This pretty illustration feels like a window into The Lion The Witch And The WardrobeMr Tumnus and Lucy promenading through the snow are a cheerful and familiar sight, and the delicate curlicues surrounding the scene are classically (har har) beautiful.

6. Because You’re Still Trying To Find Your Way

Big and bold, this map is just that little bit unusual. I like that it’s large and in charge, but not cluttered. To me, it feels like a nice reminder that, as wonderful as Narnia may be, it’s surrounded by just as wonderful sights and adventures- if you can bear to leave behind the familiar. Is that the Dawn Treader sailing around the Great Eastern Ocean?

7. Because “If ever we loved one another, let me go with you now.”

I must confess- I’m one of those people. I love couples tattoos. Since I’m many years away from a point where I could even consider getting one, I’m going to do my best to live vicariously through our dear readers. How beautiful would this quote be split into two, one for each half of a whole heart? If that’s too mushy for you, the line is just as dreamy and charming in its intact state.

8. Because You Saw, And You Conquered

“Now you are a lioness.” Warriors and wizards we may not be, but everyday life does not come without its battles. Whatever path led you to this point in your life was one you walked successfully, and maybe a tattoo like this can remind you of that. Wear your heart on your sleeve proudly, readers, and love yourself and your accomplishments. I’m sure Aslan’s praise can be converted into the masculine “lion” rather than “lioness” if that’s what this predator prefers.

9. Because Small Can Be Mighty!

Who else loved Reepicheep? The gallant mouse-knight proved that size should be measured in heart, not in stature. Show off your faith, your courage, and your spirit with this detailed piece. If the dimensions or placement are a bit much for you, why not shrink the mouse down (he won’t mind) and see how he looks on your wrist or your rib cage?
