Book Review: The Alchemist By Paulo Coelho

We all have a specific genre of books that we find most interesting. Well, for me, getting my hands on this masterpiece was the best thing I ever did for myself.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is one of the many bestsellers by Paulo Coelho. Being originally written in Portuguese, and translated into at least 67 languages, in my opinion, I feel it is the first book you will ever read.

This book unravels the journey of Santiago, a shepherd boy who travels far in search of his Personal Legend. Although he faces many challenges and obstacles along the way, he is determined to pursue what he wants most in life.

Now, some of you might find this book a little confusing at first, but hang in there. The message that Paulo Coelho is trying to portray becomes clearer with each turning page.

Paulo Coelho has a profound ability as a writer to make you travel to a different world, live in that world for a short speck of time, and somehow, make you relate that world, to yours. Although, not may readers would agree with this book, but it does portray a simple yet powerful message.

Inevitably, this book is a magical story that shows us the power of listening to your heart, persevering through life’s ups and downs,  and ultimately achieving your dreams.

Here are a few pieces from the book that have got me thinking:

“When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his dream” – The Alchemist

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure” – The Alchemist

So have you read this book yet? Are you planning to read this book?
